“The Steering Committee Theatre”

(Ever seen the Burnistoun committee comdey sketch???)

SteerCo meetings are fascinating. Everyone turns up. Slides are polished. Risks are “amber”. Confidence is “high”. And yet… everyone knows something’s off.

Because most SteerCos aren’t making decisions. They’re performing reassurance. “We’re on track” (we’re not) “Risks are being managed” (they’re being parked) “The business is engaged” (a handful of people are exhausted)

Good governance isn’t about status updates. It’s about uncomfortable conversations, early enough to matter. The best programmes don’t avoid tension. They surface it. Because ERP doesn’t go wrong suddenly.

It drifts… politely… until it’s expensive!!!

If this resonates drop me a message.
