How a Tech Company Reset Its NetSuite Implementation
When our client joined this Irish Ad Tech firm as CFO, he inherited a half-finished NetSuite implementation, almost a year’s worth of incomplete financials and a balance sheet that wouldn’t balance.

NetSuite Implementation Project
Overview.
Client
A Tier-1 UK Financial Services provider operating multiple cross-border entities. They manage high-frequency transactions requiring precise data governance and near-instant consolidation across diverse regulatory environments.
Challenge
Our client joined the company when it was 10 months into a NetSuite implementation that had never truly gone live. Key financial processes like month-end close and reporting weren’t complete. Their opening positions were not sorted out each month, so there had been compounding problems. They spent a year trying to go live with NetSuite, but never actually got across the line.
The team could post transactions but couldn’t reconcile the balance sheet or generate reliable reports from the system. They had to manipulate data in Excel, increasing the risk of error and wasting valuable time. With a company merger underway and pressure mounting, it was clear the system’s setup needed more than a few fixes; it needed a rethink.
The migration and set up of the system had not been configured in the right way which meant they couldn't report our numbers out of NetSuite every month. Their balance sheet wasn't balancing and they were extracting numbers out of NetSuite and having to make manual adjustments to them in Excel, to be able to report financials.
Objectives
The core objective was to architect a unified cloud ERP foundation that would automate 90% of inter-company eliminations, reduce the financial close period to 5 business days, and provide executive leadership with live, audited performance dashboards for strategic steering.

Key Achievements & Results
With phase one complete, this client now runs accurate, reliable monthly reporting directly from NetSuite; no more manual workarounds or last-minute spreadsheet fixes. The finance team can trust the numbers, drill into detail with ease, and spend less time preparing reports. The streamlined chart of accounts has also unlocked deeper, more granular insights.
Reflecting on the success of phase one, the client said;
“Having been live now for one month after C&J’s NetSuite optimisation, we now have greater confidence in the accuracy of the numbers, and the ability to drill down. The data is all in one place and there are fewer manual adjustments having to be made.”
With a solid foundation in place, the client’s team are preparing for phase two of their NetSuite implementation: migrating their newly acquired UK business onto NetSuite. Thanks to the work already done, this tech firm is well-positioned to operate confidently in a multi-currency environment and implement further automation, including accounts payable and employee expenses, to save even more time and scale efficiently.
Looking forward to increasing the productivity of the finance function, the client said;
“Thanks to C&J’s NetSuite reset project, we're now in a far better position to implement other bolt on solutions, which we couldn't have done previously, and they have the potential to save us days every month. It’s definitely helping us with future-proofing the business.”
“C&J are very easy to work with, they really listened, presented a clear action plan and were very personable. They are extremely knowledgeable about NetSuite implementation and the different options that were available to us, and they explained those all very clearly as well. It’s a 10/10 from me.”
